Role Description The Licensed Irrigator is a full-time, on-site role based in Brownsville, TX, responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial irrigation systems for large-scale landscape projects. This role includes reading and interpreting plans, laying out irrigation zones, setting controllers, and ensuring systems meet design specifications and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day tasks involve troubleshooting and diagnosing irrigation issues, performing inspections, adjusting heads and valves, and optimizing water usage for site conditions.
The Licensed Irrigator will collaborate closely with project managers, field crews, and subcontractors, maintain accurate records of work performed, and support safe work practices and quality standards on every project.
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Irrigator License and knowledge of state and local irrigation codes and regulations.
- Experience with commercial irrigation system installation, maintenance, and repair, including controllers, valves, piping, and sprinkler heads.
- Ability to read and interpret irrigation plans, construction drawings, and specifications for large-scale landscape projects.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing leaks, pressure issues, electrical problems, and coverage inconsistencies.
- Understanding of water conservation principles, soil types, plant water needs, and system optimization for efficiency.
- Commitment to safety practices, including proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective gear.
- Physical ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, lift moderate loads, and perform field work throughout the day.
- Clear, professional communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with supervisors, crew members, and clients.
- Reliable transportation to Brownsville, TX job sites and willingness to adhere to project schedules.
- Previous experience in commercial landscaping or construction environments is preferred; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.
