X is seeking an experienced Pilot in Command (PIC) to join our Aviation team. In this role, you will operate a Bell 429 to support range surveillance and EMS activity. As a key member of our high-performance team, you will ensure safe, efficient, and reliable flight operations while upholding Space
X's commitment to innovation and excellence in aerospace.
- Serve as Pilot in Command of a Bell 429 helicopter, conducting local flights in compliance with FAA regulations and company standards.
- Perform pre-flight planning, including weather analysis, risk mitigation, and fuel management.
- Ensure the safety and comfort of passengers, including Space
X executives and team members. - Maintain aircraft logs, complete post-flight reports, and adhere to all maintenance and operational protocols.
- Collaborate with crew, air traffic control, and ground support to execute flawless missions.
- Participate in ongoing training and proficiency checks to stay current on aviation best practices.
- High school diploma or equivalency certificate.
- 2,500+ hours of helicopter time.
- 1,000+ hours turbine helicopter time.
- Commercial Pilot Certificate with Instrument Rating.
- Helicopter ATP with CFI.
- 500+ hours in the Bell 429 or similar light twin-engine helicopters.
- Strong knowledge of FAR Part 91 operations and corporate aviation standards.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
- Experience in high-end corporate or executive transport operations.
- Familiarity with advanced avionics and flight management systems.
- Experience in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) operations and night vision goggle (NVG) proficiency.
- Valid FAA First Class Medical Certificate.
- Valid passport with the ability to travel internationally without restrictions.
- Ability to work on an on‑call basis.
- Ability to live in the vicinity of Brownsville, Texas, or ability to commute from a major airport.
- Ability to pass Air Force background checks for Cape Canaveral and Vandenberg.
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
