REQUIRED:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required in English;
- one (1) to three (3) years related experience and/or training;
- A valid Texas Driver's License and an acceptable driving record.
PREFERRED:
- CDL preferred.
- Forklift certification required but may be obtained on the job.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drives District truck to destination. Prepares receipts for picked up loads when requested. Maintains truck log and cleans truck on a weekly basis. Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Loads and unloads truck. Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water on a daily basis. Performs emergency roadside repairs such as changing tires, installing light bulbs, tire, chains and spark plugs.
Secures cargo during transit. Operates electric forklift and the manual hand lift carefully and efficiently; maintains forklift certification. Loads and pulls items for delivery and checks for accuracy. Loads vehicles with merchandise prepared for distribution to campuses and departments. Maintains vehicles and warehouse in a clean and safe manner. Records inventory of items as scheduled. Receives and stores supplies. Maintains the storage areas in a clean and orderly manner.
Adheres to driving regulations. Cleans the warehouse and trucks as per assigned schedule. Follows established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties. Maintains an effective working relationship or rapport with parents, the community and colleagues. Maintains confidentiality. Maintains a high level of ethical behavior as is expected of all District employees. Maintains professional growth by attending in-service and meetings as requested/required.
