Truck Driver Responsibilities
- Operate commercial vehicles in compliance with all traffic laws and safety regulations to guarantee timely and secure delivery of goods.
- Conduct thorough pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections, including checking oil, tires, brakes, and fuel, and ensure cargo is properly secured.
- Follow assigned routes and schedules to ensure timely deliveries.
- Adjust driving based on weather, traffic, and road conditions.
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, including hours of service, fuel usage, and mileage.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local driving regulations.
- Assist with loading and unloading of cargo when required.
- Handle and report any vehicle malfunctions or breakdowns immediately.
- Communicate with dispatch regarding delivery status, delays, or route changes.
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance such as refueling, cleaning, and basic repairs.
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with clients or at delivery sites.
- Ensure that all necessary paperwork, such as bills of lading and delivery receipts, is completed accurately.
- Deliver goods on time, ensuring quality and condition of the products.
- Monitor vehicle condition, report maintenance issues, and ensure roadworthiness.
- Adhere to company guidelines regarding fuel efficiency and driving best practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized truck, both inside and out.
- Follow instructions from supervisors, managers, and dispatch to complete deliveries effectively.
- Maintain communication with management and other drivers to coordinate logistics and troubleshoot problems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
- Stop any process that may jeopardize safety or service quality.
- Operate over long distances; manage fatigue while adhering to rest and driving hour limitations.
- Keep safety and customer satisfaction as priorities.
- Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- 2+ years of experience as a truck driver.
- Fluency in English;
Spanish language skills are a plus. - Strong organizational and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Integrity, ethics, and honesty.
- Flexibility, adaptability, tolerance, and respect.
- Good communication skills.
