Overview
DSJ Global has partnered with a leading wire and cable manufacturer to hire a Senior Engineering and Maintenance Manager for their central Texas facility. Reporting to the Plant Manager, this leader will oversee all plant engineering functions, driving improvements in production processes, equipment performance, machinery reliability, tooling, and overall facility capabilities.
Responsibilities- Supervise engineering studies, machine and tool design, process development, materials handling, equipment layout, procurement, and repairs.
- Lead cost‑reduction initiatives and efficiency improvements across the plant.
- Conduct feasibility studies and recommend capital investments.
- Oversee process engineering for new or revised products, ensuring timely readiness of equipment and tooling.
- Inspect potential machines and tooling at vendor sites or trade shows.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets; plan staffing needs; hire or assign personnel.
- Ensure effective equipment maintenance, production schedule support, and plant/facility construction or alterations.
- Strong problem‑solving, ingenuity, and initiative in engineering and manufacturing environments.
- Ability to make sound decisions affecting production, cost, and operations.
- Excellent written communication and report preparation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and work in both office and production settings.
- Occasional travel required.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Materials, Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering field.
- Minimum 4 years' experience in manufacturing technology, machine design, engineering problem‑solving, and facilities/plant projects.
- Minimum 4 years' experience with product design, tooling, production methods, lean manufacturing, quality improvement, and 5S.
- Experience leading engineering teams of 5+ members.
- Strong communication skills; ability to work with vendors, represent the company professionally, and coordinate cross‑functional projects.
