Provides executive-level direction, management and engineering oversight of all activities in a district, including transportation planning, operations, right-of-way, design, construction, inspection, maintenance, safety and environmental functions, and administrative and support activities. Reports directly to the Director of District Operations. Work requires travel, extensive contact with business and community leaders, contractors, trade groups, government and transportation officials at local, state, federal or international levels, media, and private entities.

Employees at this level perform work at the highest level of discretion and independent judgment and are responsible for the final outcome.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education
    :
    Bachelor's Degree in an engineering‑related discipline; related graduate education may substitute for experience on a year‑per‑year basis.
  • Experience
    : 6 years of transportation engineering as a licensed professional engineer (LPE) in planning, location, design, construction, operation, and maintenance (full‑time or prorated part‑time). 5 years of managerial/supervisory experience.
  • Licenses & Certifications
    :
    Valid driver’s license;
    Texas Licensed Professional Engineer. If licensed in another U.S. state, must obtain Texas professional engineering license within six months of hire and comply with Texas Engineering Practices Act.
