Travel Registered Nurse (RN) – Med/Surg Night Shift in Brownwood, TX. 13-week travel nursing assignment for experienced Med/Surg RNs in a community hospital setting. • Setting: Community Hospital – Medical/Surgical Unit (Adults & Geriatrics)
• Contract Type: Travel RN assignment
• Start Date: March 30, 2026
• End Date: June 29, 2026
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights — 3x12-hour shifts per week (19:00 – 07:00)
• Hours per Week: 36 hours/week with consideration for 48 hours/week based on facility approval
• Weekend Coverage: Required (6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule)
• Orientation: 16 hours (includes 6-8 hours of modules)
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,730 - $1,820

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — Texas RN or Compact RN acceptable (required for Texas travel nursing jobs)
• Minimum 2 years of recent medical-surgical (Med/Surg) RN experience
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications; NIHSS certification required
• Travel nursing experience preferred (prior Travel RN assignments a plus)
• Experience with Allscripts or Altera EMR/charting systems preferred
• Must be able to complete required labs within 72 hours of offer acceptance
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
• Must pass facility drug screen upon arrival (includes marijuana)
• Must reside at least 150 miles from facility (local candidates not accepted)

• Provide safe, high-quality medical-surgical nursing care to adult and geriatric patients on a 13-bed Med/Surg unit
• Manage patient assignments at an approximate 1:5 ratio during night shifts and weekends
• Care for post-op, orthopedic, diabetes, pneumonia, wound care, and urological cases
• Perform and manage IV insertion and maintenance, central/PICC/peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Care for feeding tubes, colostomy/ileostomy management, surgical drains, chest tubes, wound vacs
• Provide respiratory support including BiPAP/CPAP and high flow nasal cannula; interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs)
• Respond to rapid response and code situations as a night shift RN
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy (PT), respiratory therapy (RT), pharmacy, radiology, and social services
• Document patient care accurately using Allscripts/Altera EMR
• Participate in one on-call shift per 6-week schedule as needed
