American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Med/Surg position requiring 2 years of experience and a TX or compact RN license.

• Medical Surgical unit setting
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM
• 6 weekend shifts required per 6 week schedule (Saturday and Sunday count as weekend shifts)
• On-call requirement of one shift per 6 week schedule
• Patient ratio of 1:5
• Allscripts charting system experience preferred

• Active TX or compact RN license required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg experience required
• Previous travel experience required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central line and PICC line management, blood product administration, and peripheral line care
• Respiratory care skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube management, HFNC, and oxygen administration
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE required
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, telemetry, and rapid response/code team protocols required
• Experience managing bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy, and feeding tubes required
• Experience administering Heparin, Insulin, and PCA medications required

• Provide direct patient care within a Med/Surg unit including ortho trauma, total joint replacement, and short stay patients
• Facility conducts its own onsite drug screen upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with automatic cancellation for positive results
• Candidates should avoid CBD products prior to arrival to prevent a positive drug screen result
• Clinicians must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer or have a completion plan in place
• Candidates within 150 miles of the facility may be considered local for RN/LVN positions
• May consider candidates at least 50 miles from the facility on a case-by-case basis
• Previous permanent staff must have separated from employment for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
