American Traveler is hiring a Labor & Delivery RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of L&D experience and TX or compact RN licensure.
Details- Labor & Delivery unit within a hospital setting with fewer than 100 births per month
- Patient ratio of 1:1
- Night shift schedule (4x12 hours, 7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
- May consider 36 hours/week
- Cares for antepartum, labor and delivery, mother/baby, and postpartum patients
- Performs fetal monitoring including external and internal fetal heart monitoring and IUPC placement
- Assists with vaginal deliveries, C-sections, and related surgical procedures
- Provides newborn care including APGAR scoring, thermoregulation, and discharge teaching
- Administers medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, and antihypertensives
- Altera charting system experience preferred but not required
- Active TX or compact RN license required in hand at time of submission
- BLS and ACLS certification required
- NRP certification required
- AWHONN Beginner and Intermediate certification required; AWHONN Advanced preferred
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood products required
- Experience with sterile vaginal exams and hemorrhage/shock management required
- Experience with epidural pain management and fetal heart rate pattern recognition required
- Travel experience preferred but not required
- Provide comprehensive labor, delivery, and postpartum nursing care including antepartum monitoring and newborn assessments
- Support couplet care and manage cases involving multiple births, postpartum hemorrhage, and pregnancy induced hypertension
- Complete facility-required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer or provide a completion plan
- Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, and a positive result results in automatic cancellation
- Must reside within 150 miles of the facility to be eligible for local consideration
- Previous permanent staff must have separated from the facility for at least one year before returning as a traveler
- First-time travelers may be considered for this role
