DescriptionAmerican Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Tele RN for a night shift assignment requiring 2 years of service line experience and a TX or compact RN license.
Details- Work in the MS/Tele unit of a hospital setting
- Patient population includes cardiac telemetry, neurological/psychiatric, CVA, and gastrointestinal cases
- Patient ratio of 1:5-6
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts from 19:00-7:00
- Charting system experience required (any system accepted, Altera experience preferred)
- Active TX or compact RN license in hand required at time of consideration
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS (additional certifications preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the service line required
- Travel experience required
- Community hospital experience preferred
- Skills required include IV therapy/phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, blood product administration, and starting/maintaining IVs
- Respiratory skills required including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and oxygen administration
- Cardiac monitoring skills required including dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Additional preferred skills include telemetry remote monitoring, feeding tube management, IV insulin protocols, surgical drain care, ortho trauma care, and mastectomy care
- Must complete facility drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with no exceptions for positive results
- Provide nursing care for med/surg telemetry patients including cardiac monitoring and emergency response
- Complete required onboarding modules during orientation
- Must complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or provide a completion plan
- Candidates residing at least 50 miles from the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Local radius for RN candidates is 150 miles
- Previous permanent staff must have been separated from the facility for at least 1 year to be eligible to return as a travel candidate
