Mid-Level Diesel Technician – Brownwood, TX

Ryder is hiring a Mid-Level Diesel Technician in Brownwood, TX. This is a stable position with weekly pay and excellent benefits.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $26.50 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: up to $700 (based on new ASE Certification)
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter (four times per year)
  • Schedule:

    Tuesday – Saturday
  • Hours:

    First Shift Tuesday – Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm;
    Saturday 6:00 am to 2:30 pm

Responsibilities
  • Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
  • Perform standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
  • Perform preventive maintenance
  • Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic equipment when applicable
  • Identify root cause of basic failures and perform required repairs
  • Replace defective components as instructed
  • Perform facility maintenance duties
  • Interact with customers/drivers to determine the nature of complaints when assigned a task
  • Utilize Shop Management System and electronic documentation
  • Work in accordance with all federal, provincial, and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Perform other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Vocational or technical certification (post‑secondary degree or technical certifications) preferred
  • Basic tools required
  • Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines
  • Routine preventative maintenance experience (oil changes, brake and tire work) required
  • Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience preferred
  • Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
  • Must obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
