Position Description

Senior Level Diesel Technician - Brownwood, TX.

Salary and Benefits
  • Hourly Pay: $28.23 per hour
  • Certification Bonus: $100 per new ASE certification (up to $700 total)
  • Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 per quarter
  • Schedule:

    Tuesday – Saturday (first shift Tuesday–Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM; Saturday 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM)

Requirements
  • Post‑secondary vocational education strongly preferred
  • Minimum tool requirement
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Valid CDL (A) highly desired; mandatory in some locations
  • State license as required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment
  • Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse
  • Ability to obtain a CDL within 6 months after hire
  • Pass a Ryder drug test
  • Pass a DOT physical
  • Pass a Ryder road test
  • Pass a Ryder background and motor‑vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
Responsibilities
  • Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties including:
    • Standard vehicle maintenance
    • Preventive maintenance
    • Diagnoses complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers
    • Completes complex and detailed mechanical inspections & repairs with minimal supervision
    • Replaces defective components as instructed
    • Works unsupervised on most tasks
  • Performs facility maintenance duties
  • Interacts with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints once a task is assigned
  • Utilizes key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
  • Works in accordance with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
  • Acts as a mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels
  • Demonstrates ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents
  • Completes 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix within 365 days
  • Other support duties as required to support operations, including Service Island support
