Job Summary
The School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for an Assistant Professor of English faculty position in the Department of Arts & Humanities. The Department of Arts & Humanities provides courses in support of the general education curriculum as well as for the B.A. in American Studies and the B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies. This is an academic-year 10-month contract.
The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities

- * Develop and teach undergraduate courses in English composition, writing, literature, and interdisciplinary studies with the possibility of teaching in another discipline in the Humanities.

- * Teach a full load of classes in Fall and Spring semesters.

- * Demonstrate a commitment to the effective and accessible use of educational technology across course modalities.

- * Maintain on-campus office hours, prepare lesson plans and syllabi including course objectives, offer lectures and other course materials such as quizzes and exams, and submit final grades and attendance reports.

- * Conduct academic advisement.

- * Maintain an active agenda of service, professional development, and scholarship in support of student success.

- * Work cooperatively with others and be willing to teach face-to-face, hybrid, and online classes on the Brunswick campus, at the Camden center, or on the campus of a local high school.

- * Demonstrate a commitment to using high-impact practices.

- * Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
* Doctoral degree in English, Humanities, or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in English from a regionally accredited institution.
* The doctorate must be completed by 1 July 2026.
Required Experience
* Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
* Evidence of professional development.
* Experience teaching composition at the post-secondary level.
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
* Two years of full-time experience teaching composition and English at the college level.
* Experience teaching co-requisite / learning support.
* Secondary expertise in American literature, American Studies, digital humanities, technical writing, cultural rhetorics,
* Ability to teach in multiple Humanities disciplines.
* Certification in online teaching.
