Job Summary

The Department of Education and Teacher Preparation seeks applicants to teach undergraduate courses in Elementary/Special Education or Middle Grades Education and/or supervise and mentor teacher candidates in P-12 clinical field placements beginning on August 1st, 2025. Please indicate your preference for working as a course instructor, a teacher candiate field supervisor, or both in your Cover Letter

Responsibilities

Responsibilities - Instructor of Education
- * Teach a part-time load of courses in educational foundations, elementary pedagogy, and/or middle grades pedagogy.

* Prepare syllabi that align with course learning outcomes; implement research-informed and practice-based learning experiences with teacher candidates; and assess course learning outcomes informally, formally, and through performance-based means.

* Maintain office hours and collaborate closely with faculty to support the success of our programs and teacher candidates.

* Teach courses using in-person, hybrid, or virtual modalities as needed.

Responsibilities - Teacher Candidate Field Supervisor
- * Observe, mentor, and evaluate teacher candidates following the expectations of specific practicum or Internship experience as outlined in the syllabi.

* Facilitate pre-lesson and post-lesson reflection conferences with teacher candidates and submit timely evaluations and feedback.

* Conduct both in-person and video observation cycles.

* Build relationships and facilitate on-going communication between teacher candidates, school-based mentor teachers, administrators, and program faculty.

* Attend required field supervisor trainings and teacher candidate professional learning seminars.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

* Masters degree in education

Required Qualifications

* Must possess a current valid driver license with acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review

Required Experience

* At least three years of P-12 teaching experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

* Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) or Doctorate in education

Preferred Experience

* Experience with pre-service or in-service teacher development and learning
