Job SummaryThe School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a temporary, non-tenure-track faculty position in Chemistry. This is an academic year 10-month contract. The contract is expected to begin August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities- Develop and teach a variety of courses in chemistry, ranging from general education courses to upper-division courses for Biological Sciences and/or Environmental Science majors; some online teaching may be required, as needed.
- Maintain on-campus office hours; prepare lesson plans, syllabi (including course objectives), lectures, and other course materials such as quizzes and exams; and submit final grades and attendance reports on time.
- Engage in professional development, service, and scholarship activities.
- Travel to fulfill instructional or other duties, including to the Brunswick Campus or the Camden Center location.
- Maintain a commitment to high-impact educational practices and student success.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Environmental Chemistry, or a closely related discipline with a minimum of 18 graduate level credits in chemistry.
Required Qualifications
- Commitment to highly effective and engaging science education.
- Commitment to implementing experiential learning and high-impact educational practices in the classroom, lab, and/or field.
- Successful teaching experience at the collegiate level.
- Expertise or strong background in biochemistry or environmental chemistry.
- Experience with in-person and online/hybrid instruction.
- Recent experience teaching college-level courses in chemistry.
- Experience mentoring undergraduate research especially through Course-based Undergraduate Research Experiences (CUREs).
- Experience developing and implementing innovative pedagogy.
Successful completion of background investigation and legal authorization to work in the United States prior to employment is required.
