Job SummaryThe School of Arts & Sciences seeks a dynamic candidate for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History faculty position in the Department of Social Sciences. The candidate will offer undergraduate courses in United States History that support the College's degree programs and general education curriculum. This is an academic year (10‑month) position beginning on August 1.
Responsibilities- 1- Develop and teach undergraduate courses in History, including U.S. History I, U.S. History II, and upper‑level offerings that support degree programs in American Studies, Education, and Interdisciplinary Studies.
- 2- Demonstrate a commitment to using high‑impact teaching practices.
- 3- Maintain an active agenda of service, professional development, and scholarship in support of student success.
- 4- Demonstrate a commitment to the effective and accessible use of educational technology in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and online instruction.
- 5- Maintain on‑campus office hours, prepare lesson plans and syllabi including course objectives, prepare lectures and other course materials such as quizzes and exams, and submit final grades and attendance reports.
- 6- Conduct academic advisement.
- 7- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Doctoral degree in History or a related discipline from a regionally accredited institution. If currently in progress, the doctorate must be completed by July 1.
- Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
- Experience teaching U.S. History.
- Evidence of professional development.
- Two years of full‑time experience teaching History courses at the undergraduate level.
- Experience teaching World History, African American History, and/or Digital History.
- Certification or evidence of professional development in online teaching.
