Direct Hire Sign-On Bonus Eligible in GAC Brunswick:

  • To be considered, candidates must be eligible for the DoD Skill Bridge Program and meet all job‑specific education and experience requirements.
  • Preference will be given to those able to participate for at least 90 days, with a maximum of 180 days.
  • Participants must be willing to work the assigned shift.
  • Military service members in a Skill Bridge program are not eligible for wages or other benefits.

Education and Experience Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 5 years of experience in an avionics/electrical career field.
  • 2 years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics may offset two years of experience requirement.
  • A & P license, FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.
Position Purpose

Provides technical expertise while performing various operational, functional tests and repairs of avionics/electronic aircraft equipment and systems to ensure a defect‑free aircraft. Provides superior technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact. Demonstrates technical expertise by defining and implementing process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising safety or quality.

Job Description – Principles & Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Demonstrate superior technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting.
  • Teach the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals to ensure defect‑free systems.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency of all installations: troubleshoot and teach troubleshooting processes and concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.
  • Effectively and efficiently repair or replace defective components and wiring to meet conformity.
  • Employ repair techniques including splicing, soldering, and pinning of wiring.
  • Oversee compliance with engineering changes and modifications.
  • Set up and operate necessary test equipment; conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
  • Maintain daily logs and paperwork to document work performed on the aircraft.
  • Pre‑inspect work of others prior to submission for inspection to reduce rework and inspection time.
  • Provide knowledge and technical expertise in testing and maintaining test equipment and electronic systems and components.
  • Enforce the company FOD program, tool control program, 5‑S program and all safety regulations.
  • Adapt to sudden schedule changes; coordinate with other disciplines concerning projects.

Additional Functions:

  • Teach installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems as per engineering specifications and maintenance manuals.
  • Self‑inspection capability for all avionics testing functions in applicable areas.
  • Support aircraft certification and final phase testing, including flight tests on aircraft when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Other Requirements
  • Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines other than avionics, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations and repairs.
  • APU run qualification and engine run qualification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
