We are seeking a qualified Legal Assistant to join our team. As a Legal Assistant, you will manage the law firm's day-to-day operations and support the legal team. The ideal candidate possesses a strong work ethic, exceptional problem‑solving skills, and can work comfortably in a fast‑paced dynamic workplace.
Responsibilities- Perform administrative duties (scheduling calendars, hearings, and deadlines, organizing case files, managing logistics).
- Maintain pleadings and discovery indexes.
- Organize exhibits, documents, evidence, briefs, and appendices.
- Implement and improve administrative processes to increase workflow efficiency.
- Collect, examine, and organize evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation.
- Draft and proofread correspondence and legal documents, such as pleadings and contracts.
- Research regulations, laws, and legal articles to assist with the preparation of reports, case files, and legal advice.
- Manage client billing by preparing, finalizing, and sending out bills, and resolving billing issues in cooperation with the billing attorney.
- Communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and depositions.
- Maintain documents in paper or electronic filing systems.
Perform additional related duties as assigned to meet the needs of the business.
Qualifications- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate’s degree in paralegal studies, a paralegal certificate, or a bachelor’s degree preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience as an administrative assistant (preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department), legal assistant, legal secretary, or paralegal.
- Experience in Social Security, Personal Injury, Workers Compensation, Premises Liability, or other injury‑related practice areas preferred.
- Excellent multi‑tasking, prioritization, and workload management skills in a fast‑paced environment.
- Great written and communication skills; proficient with calendar depositions, mediation, and hearings.
- Knowledge of motions, discovery, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; typing speed of at least 35 wpm.
- This position is not eligible for remote or hybrid work.
