Role:
Structural Mechanic
Location:
Brunswick, GA
Duration: 12+ Months (Possible extension or Conversion)
Pay Rate: $25-$28.75/hr W2
Shift hour: 1st Shift Onsite
Structural Mechanic III performs a variety of structural assembly operations in a team-oriented environment under little to no supervision.
The role requires the use of required tools, engineering prints, specifications, and operational requirements to complete work assignments while ensuring conformance to company design specifications, quality standards, and customer expectations.
May assist and instruct other team members.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 4 years of related structural assembly experience.
- Experience working with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.
- Q-Stamp preferred.
- Safely perform assembly and fitting of detail parts and structures, including varied drilling and riveting operations, ensuring assemblies meet specifications.
- Safely perform sheet metal layout, fabrication, and installation of parts, equipment, or fabricated items on aircraft.
- Demonstrate the ability to transition to new tasks with only a moderate, short-term impact to established goal hours and schedules.
- Rivet structural members, assemblies, and parts using required tools such as portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills, countersinks, rivet shavers, files, reamers, and rivets.
- Remove fasteners without damaging aircraft structures.
- Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, lofts, sketches, operation sheets, and specifications to determine work sequences, rivet patterns, and fabrication requirements.
- Cut and form plastics and follow standard operating procedures when using adhesives, sealants, and solvents.
- Inspect completed work to ensure defect-free assembly prior to final inspection.
- Instruct and assist team members in interpreting blueprints, drawings, and engineering orders.
- Develop methods and shop aids to resolve production installation issues.
- Maintain and utilize required documentation, including MIR Sheets, DMTs, Crabs, and PCOs.
- Align and assemble parts using jigs, holding fixtures, pins, clamps, and fasteners.
- Shape and form complex angles and configurations using proper tooling according to blueprint specifications or written/verbal instructions.
- Perform repairs in accordance with Discrepant Material Tags (DMT), Material Review Requests (MRR), and Production Change Orders (PCO), completing required rework to ensure conformity.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while supporting 5S and Lean initiatives.
- Follow all safety regulations and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Participate in continuous improvement activities.
- Properly use, maintain, and return company-provided tools and equipment.
- Follow standard operating procedures when operating ground support equipment.
- Properly collect and dispose of waste fuel, oil, hydraulic fluids, de-icing fluids, and solvent rags.
- Ensure accurate daily job charging to the aircraft.
- Coordinate work activities between shifts through turnover meetings and communication with leadership.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Basic computer skills and basic shop math skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend basic documents, instructions, and scales.
- Strong hands-on mechanical aptitude with attention to detail and a professional attitude.
