Purpose Statement

A production palletizer/heavy lifter will be responsible for unstacking, stacking, picking up and inspecting multiple items.

Key Accountabilities and Outcomes

A Heavy Lifter will be responsible for:

  • Unstacking pallets of ingredient materials and dumping the contents into washers, grinders, sifters, or other such machinery: these bags or boxes weigh between 10 & 65 pounds for an 8 hour shift.
  • Unstacking bags of bread or batter mix and dumping contents into blenders, tubs, or other machinery; these bags weigh approximately 50 pounds; some bags must be lifted and dumped at waist level, in other areas at shoulder level for an eight hour shift.

  • Using both hands, and reaching approximately 18-20 inches across the conveyor, arranging or aligning food products on the belt to achieve optimum "loading" for proper breading, frying, or freezing.
  • Inspecting product at various points on the conveyor, and using knowledge and training about the visual quality guidelines, sorts and picks out unacceptable products and places this in the proper "inedible" container.
  • Picking up bags of product weighing from 1/2 pound to 10 pounds and placing these into the final box or case, placing it on a conveyor to go through a taping machine or to be hand-taped.
  • Tape cases using a hand-held application machine.
  • Stacking of finished product cases in a specific pallet pattern on a pallet.
  • Wiping down food processing conveyors or tables with cloths.
  • Sweeping food debris, picking it up with a dustpan, and placing it in the proper waste container.
  • Disposing of material, pushing carts or carrying tubs of waste materials to proper disposal areas.
