Job SummaryThis position is responsible for enforcing state and local laws as well as campus regulations and for protecting life and property for the College of Coastal Georgia. This position is designated by the institution as Essential Personnel and as Campus Security Authority (CSA).
Responsibilities- Educational Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent. - Meet current requirements set forth by the Police Standards and Training Council for the State of Georgia.
- Must possess a current valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report review.
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment drug test and will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must successfully pass a pre‑employment psychological exam.
- Preferred Experience:
More than one year related police experience.
- Abilities: Ability to work while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, running, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light and heavy objects, climbs ladders, uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity, distinguishes between shades of color, and utilizes the sense of smell. Ability to work in buildings and outdoors, occasionally in cold or inclement weather.
The employee may be exposed to hazardous or dangerous situations. Work requires the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc. as well as other specialized law enforcement equipment. - Knowledge: Knowledge of modern law enforcement principles and practices; community policing principles; emergency preparedness, response and recovery principles; public safety principles as related to college campuses.
- Skills: Skill in the operation of computers and job‑related software programs; operation of specialized law enforcement equipment; decision making and problem solving; interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public; oral and written communication.
