Avionics/Electrical Technician III - Sign-On Bonus Eligible in GAC Brunswick
Must be eligible for the DOD Skill Bridge Program and remain eligible throughout the duration (minimum 90 days, maximum 180 days). Must be willing to work the assigned shift. Military service members in a Skill Bridge program are not eligible for wages or other benefits.
To qualify, you must have 180 days or fewer remaining before discharge, have completed at least 180 consecutive days of active service, obtained approval from your unit commander, and agree that participation may be terminated at any time by your service branch if mission requirements dictate.
Education & Experience Requirements- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 5 years of experience in an avionics/electrical career field.
- 2 years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics may offset two years of experience requirement.
- A & P license, FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.
Provides technical expertise while performing various operational, functional tests and repairs of avionics/electronic aircraft equipment and systems to ensure a defect‑free aircraft. Provides superior technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting and repairing system discrepancies to ensure minimum schedule impact. Demonstrates technical expertise by defining and implementing process changes to reduce cost and meet schedule without compromising safety or quality.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities- Demonstrate superior technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft system operational testing and troubleshooting.
- Teach the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals to ensure a defect‑free system.
- Ensure quality and efficiency of all installations; troubleshoot and provide troubleshooting processes/concepts to support timely, quality repairs.
- Repair or replace defective components and wiring to ensure installations meet conformity; use effective repair techniques including splicing, soldering and pinning of wiring.
- Oversee performance and compliance with engineering changes and modifications as required.
- Set up and operate test equipment; conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability.
- Maintain daily logs and other paperwork; ensure all work performed on the aircraft is properly documented.
- Pre‑inspect others’ work prior to submitting for inspection to reduce rework and inspection time.
- Provide knowledge and technical expertise in testing and maintaining test equipment and electronic systems.
- Enforce the company FOD program, tool control program, 5‑S program and all safety regulations.
- Adapt to sudden schedule changes.
- Coordinate with other disciplines concerning projects.
- Teach the installation and functional testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per engineering specifications.
- Self‑inspection capability for all avionics testing functions in applicable areas.
- Support aircraft certification and final phase testing; may include flight tests on aircraft as required.
- Preferred proficiency in operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or disciplines such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations and repairs.
- APU run qualification and engine run qualification preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
- Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
