Job Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic II is responsible for performing advanced troubleshooting, preventative and predictive maintenance, and complex repairs on specialized oral dose manufacturing and automated packaging equipment within a cGMP environment. The Maintenance Mechanic II must be able to operate with a high degree of technical autonomy to ensure minimal downtime and maximum operational safety.

Essential Functions:
- Perform advanced mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, or automation controls troubleshooting and repair of oral dose production processing equipment, including blenders, mixers, mills, high-shear granulators, fluid bed dryers, tablet presses, tablet pan coaters, and encapsulation machines
- Diagnose and repair complex automated packaging lines, including slat fillers, inline and rotary labelers, induction sealers, coders, vision systems, serialization equipment, and case packers
- Troubleshoot basic electrical control circuits, motor drives (VFD’s), and input/output signals related to Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC’s)
- Replace motors, AC/DC drives, proximity sensors, photo-eyes, and heating elements
- Make routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
- Perform preventative or predictive maintenance for Manufacturing and Facility utility equipment. Complete necessary documentation to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Complete required equipment documentation accurately within the site CMMS to ensure regulatory compliance
- Perform repair and maintenance investigations to identify equipment or process-related issues that may impact product quality or batch records and perform necessary documentation for quality records
- Monitor and perform technical servicing of specialized facility utility equipment, including dust collectors, air compressors, boilers, and HVAC equipment
- Support general plant facilities maintenance tasks as needed to maintain a safe and compliant environment
- Manage service requests with specialized vendors and contractors
- Adhere to all safety and cGMP standards and guidelines, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space entry, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements. Be a model for performing maintenance activities in a safe manner.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge:
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical blueprints, pneumatic schematics, or electrical diagrams
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English
- Must complete departmental training for SOP’s, cGMP’s, and any required safety qualifications
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Experience and
Education:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Trade School, Technical School, or associate degree preferred in an industrial maintenance discipline, mechatronics, electrical systems, or mechanical technology
- Basic electrical systems knowledge required.
- Basic to intermediate PLC’s and automation controls knowledge and experience a plus
- Minimum 5 years of experience in more than one of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical and forklift operation.
- 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing. Oral solid dose dosage (OSD) experience required (granulation & drying, tablet compression, encapsulation, coating, packaging)
