Field Supervisor-JLR

The Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily vehicle processing operations, including vessel surveys, FIP and CAL inspections, workforce coordination, vehicle movement activities, and quality control processes. This role supervises employees, promotes safe and efficient operations, maintains accurate inventory and status reporting, and supports timely vessel processing while meeting customer and operational requirements.

  • Communicate with management, customer service representatives, and port representatives regarding vessel arrivals, allocations, special campaigns, priority orders, and operational requirements.
  • Plan, coordinate, and supervise daily work activities based on projected workload, staffing availability, and operational priorities.
  • Assign and monitor work activities for Drivers, Shipping Coordinators, and other personnel to ensure productivity, quality standards, and timely completion of assignments.
  • Adjust staffing levels and work assignments as operational needs change.
  • Oversee the safe off-loading and movement of vehicles to designated areas in accordance with operational procedures and management direction.
  • Verify vehicle counts and reconcile manifests to ensure accuracy and completion of required documentation.
  • Communicate changing priorities, schedules, and operational updates to employees in a timely and professional manner.
  • Coordinate vehicle movements to maximize operational efficiency and minimize delays.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support the efficient processing of vehicles and customer satisfaction.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues involving damaged units, special handling requirements, or processing delays.
  • Ensure accurate completion of operational paperwork, inspection documentation, and vehicle status updates.
  • Promote compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct employee orientation and training regarding vehicle handling procedures, safety practices, hazard communication standards, timekeeping procedures, and operational expectations.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, guidance, and technical support to employees regarding work procedures, operational changes, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback, coaching, corrective action, and recognition as appropriate and consistent with company policy.
  • Report employee performance concerns, operational issues, accidents, incidents, and safety concerns to management as appropriate.
  • Support and maintain a safe, respectful, and productive work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Must successfully pass all required pre-employment, random, and/or post-accident drug and alcohol screenings, where permitted by law. High school diploma or GED required. Prior supervisory, leadership, logistics, automotive processing, terminal, or port operations experience preferred. Valid driver's license required. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC). Must provide a Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) report meeting company insurability standards.

Ability to operate both automatic and manual transmission vehicles preferred. Basic computer proficiency required, including the ability to utilize operational systems and electronic documentation. Ability to understand, communicate, and follow operational and safety instructions in English. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills required. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing operational priorities. Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety and safe work practices.

Must be able to report to work as scheduled. Ability to accurately record and verify vehicle identification numbers (VINs) and related documentation. Ability to visually inspect vehicles for damage and safely perform job duties, with or without reasonable accommodation. Ability to work assigned schedules, including overtime, weekends, holidays, and varying shifts as operational needs require. Ability to meet the physical and environmental requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Physical Working Attributes:
Work in confined spaces. Work at heights of approximately 15 feet. Lift, push, and/or pull up to 20 lbs. Extended periods of standing, kneeling, and bending. Exposure to outdoor elements including heat, cold, rain, insects, and other environmental conditions.
