Assistant Director for Athletic Communications

The Assistant Director of Athletic Communications assists the Associate Athletic Director for Communications as the primary external communications contact for the Department of Athletics at Bowdoin College. The role manages the athletics department’s official website and social media channels, creates and edits video and graphic content, oversees in-game operations at press and scorer’s tables, and maintains historical records. It supervises student workers and coordinates with the contracted photographer and broadcast producers.
Some supervision of student workers may be required.

- Create and edit video and graphic content.
- Oversee in-game operations at press and scorer’s tables and capture statistics.
- Maintain historical athletic records.
- Supervise student workers and collaborate with the department’s photographer and webcasting producers.
- Serve as primary external communications liaison for the Athletics Department.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1–3 years of experience in a collegiate sports information office or athletic communications setting.
- 3–5 years of experience in collegiate athletic communications preferred, or comparable background in Communications/Sports Management.
- Strong writing and editorial skills; knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Stat Crew, and video production preferable.
- Specialized training in NLS/NCAA statistical software preferred.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, balancing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines.
- Flexibility to work weekends, nights, holidays, and some travel.
Annual salary range: $56,200–$60,200 (August through May).

Standard administrative hours 8:30 am–5:00 pm. 40 hours per week, August through May; variable to include weekends, nights, and holidays.
Eligibility Requirements- Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
- Must successfully complete required background checks.
