Position Overview
The Educator has the responsibility of ensuring the safety and well‑being of all the children in the classroom. They support the mission and philosophy of the center and provide a nurturing, consistent, developmentally appropriate environment that meets the cognitive, emotional, social, and physical needs of infants. The Educator develops and maintains parent relationships and consistently collaborates and supports colleagues in the infant/toddler room as well as center‑wide.
Educationand Skills Requirements
- Associate Degree in early childhood education or a related field required, with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children birth‑to‑8 years, preferably in an accredited child care program.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in early childhood education or a related field, with experience in practicum settings and/or summer employment working with children birth‑to‑8 years.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills and a genuine commitment to the field of early childhood education.
- Flexibility and reflective teaching skills focusing on the whole child in responsive, nurturing programs.
- Experience working with play‑based curriculum, with an emphasis on outside play and natural materials is highly desirable.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the requirements of the College’s Motor Vehicle Use Policy.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Must sign the Child Abuse Policy statement, complete the College’s OSHA blood‑borne pathogen training, and provide proof of Hepatitis B vaccination (or submit a written declination statement).
40 hours/week between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Driving a vehicle (Bowdoin vehicle, off‑road vehicle, rental car, personal car) and pre‑placement physical required.
