Job Summary
The Educator position at Bowdoin College’s Children’s Center offers early childhood professionals a dynamic opportunity to work in a college campus center where staff provide care to children in a professional atmosphere. The environment is calm, organized, and collaborative, with an emphasis on attachment-based learning, nature‑based programs, and a NAEYC‑accredited framework. Educators support a nurturing environment and a developmentally appropriate curriculum, working under the guidance of Co‑Lead Educators.
Compensation- Targeted pay range: $22.00 – $23.00 per hour, based on education and years of experience.
- New employees receive a $1,000 sign‑on bonus, paid after 90 days upon meeting eligibility requirements.

- Associate Degree in early childhood education or related field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children born through age 8, preferably in an accredited program.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and genuine commitment to early childhood education.
- Flexibility and reflective teaching skills focused on the whole child.
- Computer proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and internet research for classroom planning.
- Willingness to learn additional relevant programs.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children born through age 8.
- Valid driver’s license and adherence to the College Motor Vehicle Use Policy.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or obtain within 1 month of employment).
- Completion of Child Abuse Policy statement, OSHA blood borne pathogen training, and proof of Hepatitis B vaccination (or written declination).
- Genuine commitment to early childhood education.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in early childhood education or related field.
- Experience with emergent curriculum or Reggio Emilia‑inspired programs.
- Interest in play‑based and nature‑based environments.
- Prior experience in an accredited child care program.
- 20 hours per week between 7:30 a.m. and 5:45 p.m.
- Monday–Friday schedule.
- Full‑time, year‑round position (0.50 FTE).
