Overview
Mid Coast Hospital | Registered Nurse I or II (RN I/II) vacancy. Part-time, 24 hours/week, night shift. Open to candidates with any amount of RN work experience.
Sign-on bonus: $10,000 for eligible RNs with 0–2 years of RN experience; $20,000 for RNs with more than 2 years of RN experience. Bonus is subject to eligibility and prorated for part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. Ineligible for current Maine Health member employees; former members are ineligible until more than 6 months separation from employment.
Unit andRole Overview
Unit:
Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit (13 beds, locked unit) providing a 24-hour treatment program for adults 18–95 in acute psychiatric crisis. Multidisciplinary team delivers psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, follow-up referrals, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth. Care includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care.
RN roles:
- RN I:
Provides high-quality patient care through assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient outcomes. Collaborates, delegates, and communicates with the healthcare team to ensure optimal care. - RN II:
Demonstrates competency to care for most patients within their area of hire. Identifies resources to develop skills over time. Automatic advancement from RN I after 1 year if all onboarding requirements are met and in good standing.
Provide direct patient care for behavioral health patients based on assessed needs. Collaborate with the care team to develop and implement care plans. Monitor patient status, respond to changes, administer medications per policy, and document care accurately. Support patient safety and therapeutic milieu within the unit.
Required Minimum KSAsGraduate of an accredited School of Nursing; BSN preferred.
Current Registered Nurse license in the applicable state(s). BLS certification required or obtained within 30 days of start date. Additional certifications may be required based on clinical area.
One year of recent RN experience required. Automatic advancement from RN I to RN II after completing onboarding requirements, including any applicable New Grad Residency where available.
We offer competitive benefits and schedule flexibility. Compensation varies by role and FTE; RN I pay range: $34.35–$46.46 per hour. RN II pay range: $37.09–$50.17 per hour. Part-time compensation is prorated based on scheduled hours and FTE. In addition to base pay, Maine Health offers benefits, career growth opportunities, and shift differentials where applicable.
