DescriptionRESPONSIBILITIES AND MAJOR DUTIES:
- 1. Evaluate and document evaluations of referred residents as related to Respiratory Therapy
services in accordance with facility policies and procedures. - 2. Provide appropriate treatment and education to resident and/or caregiver to help residents
maintain or attain the highest level of respiratory function possible within the confines of his/her
physical condition. - 3. Operate respiratory therapy equipment safely and effectively and report any malfunctions to
the appropriate parties for resolution. - 4. Maintain timely and accurate resident reports as required by federal, state and local regulatory
agencies and third-party payers. - 5. Meets patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by conducting pulmonary function
tests; assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining respiratory therapy
treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription. - 6. Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and supports life by administering inhalants; operating mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas administration apparatus, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.
- 7. Administers respiratory therapy treatments; assisting with breathing exercises; monitoring physiological responses to therapy, such as vital signs, arterial blood gases, and blood chemistry changes; directing treatments given by aides, technicians and assistants.
- 8. Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.
- 9. Participate in the Inter-Disciplinary Team meetings as required to ensure quality care for the residents involved.
- 10.Observe infection control procedures.
- 11.Ensure the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) process is followed in accordance to State
& Federal Guidelines. - 12.Follow Residents' Rights policies at all times.
- 13.Adhere to all facility policies & procedures and ensure they are adhered to by all responsible parties and carry out disciplinary action for non-compliance as appropriate.
- 14.Ensure adherence to the Corporate Integrity Program and the Performance Expectations at all
times. - 15.Perform other related duties as directed by the Director of Nursing and/or person of authority.
