About this positionSummary: The Production Manager — Assembly is an exempt management-level position responsible for the leadership, coordination, and execution of 1MT's production assembly operations across multiple facilities. This role oversees production assembly functions including kitting, hand assembly, repack, labeling, counting, and packing activities, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with established work instructions and quality standards.
The Production Manager leads production assembly supervisors and team leads across assigned buildings, aligning labor, schedules, and resources to meet daily production targets and service commitments. This position focuses exclusively on production assembly operations and does not manage print production, post-production finishing, or warehouse fulfillment activities.
The Production Manager is also responsible for leading / managing the project quoting process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee daily production assembly operations across multiple IMT facilities
- Lead and develop production assembly supervisors, team leads, and associates
- Plan and allocate labor and resources across buildings based on production demand
- Ensure assembly schedules, quality standards, and service commitments are met
- Serve as escalation point for cross-site production risks, constraints, and capacity issues
- Maintain and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for assembly processes
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, and safety
- Coordinate with Account and Operations team on priorities and staffing
- Monitor and report production metrics and staffing effectiveness
- Promote a clean, safe, and compliant production environment
The Production Manager — Assembly is distinct from a Production Supervisor. The Manager owns multibuilding assembly performance and leads supervisors rather than individual associates, exercising independent judgment and accountability for outcomes such as productivity, quality, staffing effectiveness, and safety.
Production Supervisors focus on day-to-day execution within a single production area and elevate issues to management.
Skills and Competencies- Proven operational leadership and people management skills
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in deadline-driven environments
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot)
- Clear communication across production and leadership teams
- 5–7 years’ experience in a production, fulfillment, or manufacturing environment
- Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or management role
- Experience leading teams across multiple work areas or facilities
- Working knowledge of production workflows, labor planning, and scheduling
- High School diploma required; college coursework or degree preferred
- Ability to work in a production / warehouse environment
- Ability to walk production floors across multiple facilities
- Flexibility to support extended hours based on production demand
