Starting salary: $28.94 per hour. Four-year rate: $41.52 per hour.

All candidates must pass a physical agility test (contact Tri-C for details) and may need to complete the Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Academy (OPOTA) or equivalent if not previously trained.

Applicants must also complete a truth‑verification test, a physical examination by a licensed physician (including drug screening), and, if required, psychological testing.

• Complete and sign the department application and submit via your NTN account by April 27, 2025.
• Take the Front Line National exam and the PSSA exam through National Testing Network; submit scores before April 27, 2025.
• Provide documentation for any extra credit points before taking the exam.

• Felony or criminal activity.
• Driving disqualifiers: must hold a valid Ohio driver’s license.
• Drug use.
• Employment history of poor work habits with prior employers.
• Domestic violence convictions.

• 5 points: must achieve a 70% passing grade and evidence of an honorable discharge (DD-214).
• 5 points for proof of a bachelor's degree.
• 2 points for proof of an associate’s degree.
• 5 points for OPOTA certification.
• 1 point for each year of part-time service with the City of Brunswick (maximum 6 points).
• 2 points for being a two-year resident of the City of Brunswick at the time of application.
