Description

Run it. Fix it. Keep it moving.

The Ohio Art Company is expanding operations in Bryan by relocating can-making equipment from our New Jersey facility- and we’re looking for a skilled Equipment Operator – Press Mechanic to take ownership of that equipment on the floor.

This is a hands‑on, hybrid role—not a traditional maintenance position. You’ll operate the equipment while also serving as the primary mechanical expert, responsible for keeping presses running efficiently, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining quality in a fast‑paced production environment.

If you’re someone who doesn’t just run machines—but understands how they work and how to fix them—this is the role for you.

Requirements Why This Role Stands Out
  • Be part of a major transition – Help bring can‑making operations in‑house to Bryan
  • Own the equipment – Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot press systems directly on the floor
  • High‑impact role – Your skill directly affects uptime, efficiency, and product quality
  • Growth opportunity – Build specialized expertise in metal packaging and advance your career
What You’ll Do
  • Set up and operate press and forming equipment according to company standards
  • Maintain machinery in working condition (lubrication, cleaning, replacing worn components, tooling adjustments)
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues quickly to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency
  • Perform changeovers and setups following approved procedures and production requirements
  • Ensure all safety devices, guards, and controls are functioning properly
  • Monitor production to maintain quality standards and minimize scrap
  • Use gauges and inspection tools to verify product conformance
  • Respond to jams, line stoppages, and mechanical issues safely and effectively
  • Train and support operators and packers on proper procedures, safety, and efficiency
  • Recommend improvements to productivity, quality, and equipment performance
  • Complete required documentation including inspection and production reports
What We’re Looking For
  • 3–5+ years of experience operating and troubleshooting manufacturing equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude- you can diagnose, adjust, and repair equipment issues
  • Experience with presses, metal forming, stamping, or similar equipment preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and setup instructions
  • Hands‑on experience with tools, components, and machine adjustments
  • Strong attention to quality, safety, and efficiency standards
  • Proven reliability and ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment
  • Experience training or leading operators is a plus
What This Role Is (and isn’t)
  • Is: A hands‑on operator role with strong mechanical responsibility
  • Is:
Focused on keeping production running at peak performance
  • Is Not: A traditional maintenance department position

You’ll be embedded in production- owning the performance of your equipment every day.

Schedule & Benefits
  • Overtime opportunities on Fridays as needed
  • 4-Day Work Week (Monday–Thursday)
  • Competitive pay with advancement potential
  • Full benefits package:
    • Medical, Dental, Vision
    • FREE Life Insurance
    • Paid Vacation + 11 Paid Holidays
    • Profit‑Sharing Opportunities
    • 401(k) with guaranteed 4.5% company contribution + match
Why Apply Now?

We’re moving quickly- equipment relocation is underway, and we need experienced, mechanically driven individuals ready to step in and take ownership.

This is a unique opportunity to:
