Description:
The position requires triaging patients arriving to the Emergency Department.
Assessing and stabilizing patients will be essential.
Starting IVs and administering medications both orally and through injection are required.
Critical drips and moderate sedation will be part of the responsibilities.
Reporting to inpatient units for admitted patients is expected.
Transporting patients to inpatient units will be necessary for admitted cases.
Good communication with physicians and team members regarding patient care plans is vital.
Assisting physicians with reductions, chest tubes, central lines, and intubation is required.
The typical patient load is 3 to 4 patients per nurse.
Performing EKGs and drawing blood for lab work from IVs are expected tasks.
The department utilizes computerized charting with an advanced medication administration system.
Necessary equipment includes bedside cardiac monitors and defibrillators.
A mixture of 2 to 3 nurses and support staff will work alongside each other.
The schedule includes working every third weekend, with no on-call shifts required.
Extra shifts may be available for pickup.
The unit has a capacity of 13 beds, typically catering to high monthly volumes.
The nurse-to-patient ratio is 3 to 4 patients per nurse.
The dress code consists of Caribbean Blue scrubs.
