What

You’ll Do

As a Tax Supervisor, you’ll take ownership of assigned client engagements and lead the people, workflow, and technical review required to deliver high-quality work on time and within expectations. Your responsibilities will include:

Client Engagement & Technical Oversight
  • Lead assigned tax engagements and prepare or review complex individual, corporate, partnership, fiduciary, and exempt organization tax returns.
  • Ensure engagement work papers and deliverables meet firm, regulatory, and professional standards.
  • Conduct advanced tax research and apply findings to client engagements.
  • Serve as a primary day-to-day contact for assigned clients, lead or participate in client meetings, and contribute to tax planning, risk identification, and advisory discussions.
  • Respond to tax notices and assist with correspondence to taxing authorities as needed.
Leadership & Staff Development
  • Directly supervise Senior Tax Associates and Tax Associates, providing day-to-day guidance and technical support.
  • Review staff work, offer constructive feedback, and support growth in technical and professional competencies.
  • Assist in onboarding and training new tax staff in collaboration with department leadership.
  • Help clarify expectations, promote accountability, and model professional standards.
  • Participate in performance evaluation processes and provide meaningful input on staff development.
Workflow & Project Management
  • Own the execution of assigned engagements by planning and assigning workloads, monitoring progress, resolving workflow obstacles, and ensuring timely and efficient completion.
  • Monitor budgets, realization, and due dates for assigned engagements.
  • Communicate status updates and potential issues to the Tax Manager proactively.
  • Collaborate with the Tax Services Administration (TSA) team to support engagement tracking and document flow.
  • Promote process improvements and consistency in tax preparation and review procedures.
Client Relationship & Firm Contribution
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships built on responsiveness and trust.
  • Support business development efforts through quality service and identification of additional client needs.
  • Participate in firm initiatives, leadership meetings, and professional development activities.
  • Represent the firm in a professional manner within the community and industry settings.
What We’re Looking For

We’re seeking candidates who bring both skill and heart to their work. This role is well suited for an experienced tax professional who may currently hold a Supervisor, Assistant Manager, or Manager title and is comfortable leading engagements, reviewing complex work, and developing staff. You’ll be a strong fit if you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of four to six years of tax experience in public accounting, with demonstrated progression in responsibilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws and compliance requirements.
  • Experience reviewing tax returns & mentoring staff.
  • Ability to multi‑task in a dynamic, fast-paced, and time-sensitive environment.
