Position Summary

Producers Cooperative is seeking a qualified and experienced Controller to oversee the accounting operations and financial reporting functions of the organization. This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial records and reports, while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

The Controller will play a key leadership role in supporting executive management through financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, audit coordination, and the development of sound accounting policies and procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and fixed assets
  • Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards
  • Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax obligations, and other applicable financial regulations
  • Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and related financial reviews
  • Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and financial reports to support management decision-making
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate accounting staff as assigned
  • Collaborate with department leaders and executive management to provide financial insight, inventory management, and operational support
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency within the accounting function
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • CPA preferred
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting best practices
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, audit preparation, and financial analysis
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a professional environment
