The Accounting Manager is responsible for the day-to-day accounting and record keeping activities of Group Properties Inc. This position requires the utmost attention to detail, timeliness, efficiency, cost effectiveness, and corporate demeanor, while adhering to the policies and standards at the Company.
Essential Job Functions- Strong ability to supervise the general accounting team.
- Prepare, review and analyze monthly stand-alone and consolidated financial statements in accordance with GAAP for multiple privately owned companies in various industries.
- Responsible for the journal entries and closing the financial statements for each reporting cycle (monthly, quarterly, annually).
- Participates in the annual budgeting process and works with the different departments in designing the budget.
- Monthly account analysis to explain actual and budgeted variances.
- Preparation of monthly general ledger account reconciliations.
- Prepare monthly sales tax and other tax filings.
- Review of payment support for multiple companies to ensure proper payments.
- Daily cash management, including recommendation of cash to be transferred as needed for operating and payroll expenses.
- Assist in accounts receivable, cash receipt and billing functions.
- Cash management.
- Ensure accuracy of reporting for payroll, benefits, and 401(k) related activities.
- Analysis of audit schedules and assistance with year-end audit activities.
- Oversees the General Liability and Worker’s Compensation insurances.
- Liaison with business management and operational personnel to improve business performance and ensure proper internal controls.
- Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks with limited direct supervision.
- Special projects as directed.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA a plus.
- Knowledge of the Real Estate industry is a plus.
- 2+ years management experience.
- 7+ years progressive accounting experience.
- Demonstrable knowledge of GAAP.
- Experience working with a mid-tier or ERP accounting system.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Power Point, Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Experience working in a corporate environment, including professional verbal and written.
- Highly developed sense of urgency and self-managing with limited direct supervision.
