Job Summary:
Under general supervision, performs a variety of clerical or administrative responsibilities in support of the City of Bryan’s Fiscal Services Department.
- Performs other general clerical duties to include, but not limited to preparing deposits, receiving and recording payments in accounting software, issuing receipts for payments, copying, faxing, mailing and filing. Performs scanning of financial documents for record retention purposes.
- Responds to telephone, email or in-person inquiries for the Fiscal services department from citizens, City staff, other agencies and the general public.
- Composes, types, and edits a variety of correspondence, reports, memoranda, and other material requiring judgment as to content, accuracy, and completeness.
- Performs related duties as required.
- Responds regularly and promptly to work.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- At least one (1) year of directly related experience performing accounting, administrative, clerical, or office support responsibilities in a similar office environment.
Equivalent combinations of education, experience and training may be considered.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities KnowledgeKnowledge of
:
- Proper customer service and telephone etiquette.
- Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and associated equipment.
- Principles and procedures of record keeping.
- Use a computer for basic data entry and operate a variety of other standard office equipment.
- Handle a diverse set of customer inquiries politely and professionally.
- Perform a variety of clerical work including composing correspondence, data entry, scanning, filing, record keeping, and compiling simple reports.
- Prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands, and meet established deadlines.
- Maintain a high level of integrity and discretion in handling confidential information.
- Demonstrate satisfactory performance and regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
- Abide by City and department administrative directives, policies, and procedures.
- Provide management with sound, positive advice, and information concerning the incumbent’s area of responsibility.
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work and communicate effectively with the public and other required entities.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.

Physical DemandsPhysical demands include but are not limited to: sitting, talking, hearing, seeing, standing, walking, bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, using hands and fingers to operate office equipment and machines, and occasionally lifting and/or moving objects up to and including 25 pounds.
Working ConditionsWork is performed primarily in an office setting or a well-lighted and temperature-controlled working environment.
EquipmentWork shall be performed with tools, appliances, and equipment approved by those agencies and bodies that have control, authority, or approval of the design working ranges or limitations of those items; the employee has the responsibility to conform to those ranges and limitations.
Equipment may include but is not limited to: multi-line telephone, computer, printer, fax, copier, scanner, and calculator.
