Position: Become a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate)!

Overview

Voices For Children (VFC) is a nonprofit organization that provides court-ordered advocacy for children and families within the foster care system in Brazos, Burleson, Grimes, Leon, Madison, Limestone, and surrounding counties. CASAs (Court Appointed Special Advocates) are volunteers appointed by judges to be a voice for abused and neglected children in court, with the goal of ensuring the child’s best interests are met and a safe, permanent home is found as quickly as possible.

CASAs come from all walks of life and share a passion for strengthening families and keeping children safe and supported as they grow. VFC recruits, trains, and empowers community members to create and reinforce support networks around families in crisis for years to come. If you prefer short- and medium-term assignments, opportunities are available through VFC ROAR.

Responsibilities
  • Gather information about the child’s needs and circumstances.
  • Locate potential relative caregivers and advocate for the child’s educational, psychological, and medical needs.
  • Make recommendations to the court for a safe and permanent home as quickly as possible, providing stability for the child during times of uncertainty.
  • Represent the child’s best interests in court as appointed by a judge.
Qualifications/Requirements
  • Willingness to serve as a CASA volunteer and work within the foster care system to support children and families.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with judges, social workers, teachers, and family members; commitment to safeguarding the child’s best interests.
  • Adaptability to engage with clients from diverse backgrounds and life experiences.
