Part Time Academic Advisor - Technical/Workforce Programs
The Blinn College District is searching for a Part Time Academic Advisor - Technical/Workforce Programs at our RELLIS Campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities- Delivers academic advice to prospective and currently enrolled technical/workforce students as well as their parents and other college personnel.
- Develop educational plan of academic courses, which help students achieve their intended educational goal.
- Assist currently enrolled technical/workforce students with identifying their educational and career goals to the extent the student can develop an educational plan to achieve their goal.
- Review degree plans and advise students with academic, developmental and probationary concerns. Be a liaison to college departments and off campus resources. Maintain accurate record of student interactions.
- Serve as point person for other advisors and faculty on academic advising related matters when working with students who are enrolled or interested in these specialized programs
- Assist with registration and student service activities as needed.
- Interact with parents and guardians of students while ensuring the students FERPA rights are protected.
- Attend on-campus recruitment events, visit with prospective students and parents to share information about technical and workforce programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- Computer literate; ability to learn and operate required computers systems at an intermediate level.
- Strong analytical and organization skills combined with careful attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a stressful environment.
- Self-motivated and goal oriented, team player.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals and complex long- and short-range concurrent planning.
- Strong commitment to quality customer service.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of college records and student information.
Special Notes To Applicants
The Part-Time Academic Advisor can be scheduled to work up to 19 hours per week.
This is a 100% GRANT FUNDED position, therefore, this position is not permanent and may be eliminated once the grant funding is exhausted.
