The Agency Instructor I is responsible for delivering training on confined space entry within the Water & Wastewater program. Instruction may be conducted online, in classroom, or field‑based, utilizing a variety of media to present course material. The instructor will create or update curriculum content, maintain technical competence, and manage the confined space entry trailer and associated safety equipment.

• Design, deliver, and assess adult learning courses on confined space entry.
• Provide technical assistance in specialty areas and support learners’ success.
• Maintain and operate the confined space entry trailer and safety equipment.
• Document and communicate course effectiveness to the Agency Training Manager.

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of three years’ hands‑on experience performing confined space entries and working with water utility systems (operation, maintenance, design, construction, or regulation).
• Valid motor vehicle operator’s license, or obtainable within 30 days of employment.
• Valid Class “A” CDL, or obtainable within 180 days of employment.
• One of the following licenses:
  Texas Class “B” Water license (or higher), Texas Class “B” Wastewater license (or higher), Texas Class “B” Distribution license, or Texas Class III Collection license.

• 60 hours of classroom instructional experience, or completion of approved instructor training courses in:
• Methods of Teaching OR Effective Instructional Techniques AND Instructional Design and Evaluation OR Organizational and Use of Training Materials.
• Ability to attain above requirements within six months of employment.

• Associate’s Degree with five years of relevant experience, or
• High School Diploma/GED with seven years of relevant experience.

Must also meet TCEQ Sponsor Requirements or be able to obtain them within six months of employment.
