The Role at a GlanceThe Agency Instructor I is responsible for delivering training on confined space entry within the Water & Wastewater program. Instruction may be conducted online, in classroom, or field‑based, utilizing a variety of media to present course material. The instructor will create or update curriculum content, maintain technical competence, and manage the confined space entry trailer and associated safety equipment.
Responsibilities- Design, deliver, and assess adult learning courses on confined space entry.
- Provide technical assistance in specialty areas and support learners’ success.
- Maintain and operate the confined space entry trailer and safety equipment.
- Document and communicate course effectiveness to the Agency Training Manager.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three years’ hands‑on experience performing confined space entries and working with water utility systems (operation, maintenance, design, construction, or regulation).
- Valid motor vehicle operator’s license, or obtainable within 30 days of employment.
- Valid Class “A” CDL, or obtainable within 180 days of employment.
- One of the following licenses:
Texas Class “B” Water license (or higher), Texas Class “B” Wastewater license (or higher), Texas Class “B” Distribution license, or Texas Class III Collection license.
- 60 hours of classroom instructional experience, or completion of approved instructor training courses in:
- Methods of Teaching OR Effective Instructional Techniques AND Instructional Design and Evaluation OR Organizational and Use of Training Materials.
- Ability to attain above requirements within six months of employment.
- Associate’s Degree with five years of relevant experience, or
- High School Diploma/GED with seven years of relevant experience.
Must also meet TCEQ Sponsor Requirements or be able to obtain them within six months of employment.
