Job DetailsWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Permanent Structural and Materials Estimator for our dynamic manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for professionals passionate about the manufacturing industry and looking to take their careers to the next level. The successful candidate will be instrumental in the planning and execution of our projects, working closely with engineers and project managers to ensure accurate estimation of costs and materials.
This role requires a thorough understanding of fabrication processes and a keen eye for detail.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing plans and specifications and performing quantity take-offs for select trades.
- Develop a thorough understanding of the scope for specific trades assigned.
- Review and evaluate project plans, specifications, bid documents and other relevant project documents to identify requirements and create bid proposals.
- Evaluate the need for design changes and make appropriate recommendations.
- Consult with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments or construction foremen to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.
- Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
- Prepare estimates used by management for planning, organizing, and scheduling work.
- Maintain files of working documents for backup to estimating figures.
- Interface with other individuals in the organization to obtain support and commitment for the cost estimates.
- Organize and manage a centralized cost estimating database and a formal process to support cost estimating and ensure historical data is utilized.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in cost estimation, specifically within the manufacturing industry.
- Proven experience with fabrication processes.
- Proficient with MS Office tools, specifically Excel, and estimation software.
- Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under pressure, organize, and prioritize responsibilities.
- Detail-oriented with a dedication to accuracy.
- A team player with a high level of dedication.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and construction methods.
- Ability to work with multiple discipline projects and demonstrate the ability to plan and direct large or multiple small projects.
