PositionSummary
The Project Management (PM) Intern executes functional project management tasks under supervision that directly or indirectly contributes to the planning, coordination, management, execution or reporting for Advanced Manufacturing projects. The intern will primarily work with the Associate Director for Project Management, Advanced Manufacturing, the LOE Portfolio and program managers to perform project initiation, planning, management and controls functions. Secondarily, the PM intern will assist in the review and revision of project management related processes, procedures, methods and procedures.

- Develop Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quote (RFQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation in support of a competitive bidding process.
- Develop proposal tracking mechanisms to monitor receipt and processing of supplier submitted proposals.
- Develop proposal evaluation criteria and participate in proposal evaluations and selection.
- Develop award notifications.
- Develop Statement of Work (SOW).
- Develop Requisition Intake Form (RIF).
- Coordinate and participate in project kick-off meeting.
- Develop and maintain a project schedule.
- Develop and maintain a project budget.
- Review project invoices.
- Develop and maintain a project Return On Investment (ROI) worksheet.
- Develop and maintain a risk, action item, issues, and decision (RAID) log.
- Develop and maintain a risk management plan and risk register.
- Establish and maintain a project SharePoint folder.
- Review and revise project management-related processes and procedures.
- Develop and deliver project management-related training.
- Executes tasks within clearly defined parameters and supervision.
- Escalates technical issues, risks, and uncertainties promptly.
- Exercises judgment within assigned work scope; does not independently set direction.
- Interfaces with project managers, engineers, and technical staff.
- Supports collaboration within the Adv Manufacturing LOE, across LOEs and with external stakeholders.
- Communicates information at the working level.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Strong academic performance in relevant coursework.
- Basic understanding of project management principles and concepts.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to project planning and performance.
- Strong communication skills; unafraid to ask questions.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Strong ethical standards and integrity.
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in project or program management, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a project manager (within the academic or industrial setting) is preferred.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.
- Expected travel:
Minimal to None. - Periodic travel to HQ for meetings may be required.
