ShiftDay:
Monday – Thursday 7:15 am – 5:30 pm;
Friday 7:15 am – 5:00 pm (flexible)
The Physical Therapist Assistant, supervised by a physical therapist, conducts patient assessment, testing, and therapy. They use standard physical therapy methods to restore function, relieve pain, and prevent disability.
Essential Functions- Administers physical therapy interventions as planned by the Physical Therapist, facilitating quality patient care and applying therapeutic methods appropriately.
- Instructs and assists patients, monitors performance and physical status to ascertain effectiveness of the program.
- Assists with patient mobility, including bed mobility, transfers, and gait. Utilizes modalities correctly and answers patient questions about their use.
- Adheres to safety practices with patient guarding.
- Escorts patients to the treatment area in preparation for treatment.
- Establishes rapport with patients in a professional manner.
- Develops and documents effective home exercise programs and supplemental instructional programs as needed.
- Prepares detailed and clear assessments and documentation of patient treatment and progress, ensuring information is given to the appropriate parties.
- Communicates with the Physical Therapist as needed regarding patient progress and need for goal modification.
- Submits accurate charges in a timely manner.
- Supervises physical therapy aides and students as assigned, following Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act guidelines and effectively communicating treatment information to the aide.
- Fulfills continuing education or certification requirements to maintain qualifications, attending professional education programs, reviewing current literature, and presenting educational programs to staff when requested.
- Physically capable of prolonged standing, moving, pushing, and holding.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good problem‑solving skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
- Maintains patient confidentiality.
- Works cooperatively with patients, families, and employees at all levels in a professional and positive manner.
Experience in outpatient orthopedics with patients aged adolescents to geriatrics is highly desired. New graduates are welcomed to apply.
QualificationsEducation:
Associate’s degree.
License:
Must have attended or currently attending an accredited PTA program or hold a temporary license.
Experience:
Less than 1 year.
Certification:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
