The PLC Electrician / Controls Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing electrical and automation systems supporting production operations. This role focuses on PLC-controlled equipment, industrial electrical systems, and automation reliability in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and control system equipment
- Support PLC programming, troubleshooting, and automation diagnostics
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and control diagrams
- Troubleshoot 480V 3‑phase electrical systems
- Support preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems
- Assist with installation and startup of new automation equipment
- Maintain maintenance documentation and system records
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve equipment performance
- Follow all safety and compliance procedures
Skills and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 2–5 years of industrial electrical or controls experience
- PLC troubleshooting experience required
- Experience with industrial electrical systems (480V)
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with production teams
- Experience with Allen‑Bradley, Siemens, or similar PLC platforms
- Experience in metals, packaging, or high‑speed manufacturing
- Experience in union manufacturing environments
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to work in environments with noise, heat, and moving machinery
