Summary:

The production planning and shipping manager will manage production planning, including inventory control, physical inventories, planning process & schedule, and shipping & receiving. Ensure planning process and schedule emphasize meeting customer due dates while prioritizing safety and ensuring regulatory compliance. Lead inventory, planning, and shipping & receiving teams and coordinate with other departments to identify and address potential issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize production planning/schedule, meet operational targets, and achieve safety standards; ensure regulatory compliance
  • Lead and motivate staff to achieve high levels of productivity, safety, and efficiency; provide direction and leadership to staff, setting priorities aligned with manufacturing strategies
  • Ensure manpower resources with correct skill sets are readily available to address priorities; foster cross-training within teams for business contingency plans and staff development
  • Oversee the site’s S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) process to ensure alignment between demand, production, inventory, and shipping.
  • Oversee warehousing, rail, and shipping & receiving operations, ensuring inventory integrity, material flow, regulatory compliance, and on‑time execution across all inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to identify trends and identify and implement continuous improvements
  • Coordinate with procurement to ensure availability of raw materials
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth operations, solve problems, and address short- and long-term needs
  • Identify cost‑saving opportunities and implement strategies to optimize resource allocation
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization
  • Excellent problem‑solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Proficiency with SAP or similar Material Resource Planning (MRP) or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system
  • Strong knowledge of DOT Hazardous Materials, International Maritime Dangerous Goods, International Air Transportation, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and other applicable regulations
  • Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a team
  • Strong safety awareness and commitment to compliance

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, logistics, or related field or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of industrial planning, inventory, or shipping & receiving experience
  • 5+ years supervisory experience

Preferred

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience within a chemical manufacturing environment
