Position: Maintenance Supervisor II (Food Manufacturing) - 2nd Shift (3:00 p - 11:30 p)

Overview

Directs maintenance crews in the installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of equipment used throughout the plant, facilities, utilities, and powerhouse equipment. Oversees maintenance processes to reduce mechanical downtime and keep product flows and production lines running at maximum efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead teams of Maintenance Mechanics and Electricians in predictive and preventive maintenance and machine repair.
  • Develop, implement, and supervise maintenance systems, processes, and documentation for high‑performing manufacturing operations.
  • Schedule maintenance and coordinate with production to ensure timely equipment and facility repairs.
  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators for maintenance performance.
  • Provide solutions and day‑to‑day support for troubleshooting, problem analysis, and equipment failures.
  • Train employees on proper work methods and safety procedures.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance work performed and inventory.
  • Provide status reports to maintenance management.
  • Review planned job packages for labor requirements, materials, parts, methods, permits, and priorities.
  • Distribute work orders and evaluate emergency work to determine necessity or future scheduling.
  • Ensure appropriate resources and skill levels for each job and control quality, cost, and thoroughness of work.
  • Monitor job progress, frequently visit jobs in progress, and interface with Production on schedule changes.
  • In the absence of the supervisor or a qualified designee, delegate or complete all required tasks.
  • Remain flexible to work non‑standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or related field (preferred).
  • 3‑5 years of maintenance supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience providing training, coaching, or mentoring, or managing a process or project.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proficient use of computer and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note).
  • Advanced technical skills in ammonia refrigeration, high‑pressure boiler, compressed air, mechanical and electrical fields (e.g., PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical engineering).
  • Knowledge of PSM and RMP.
  • Thorough knowledge of maintenance systems, work order processes, preventive/predictive maintenance, TPM, inventory, and scheduling software.
  • Strong leadership skills: conflict resolution, facilitation, change management, decision making, empowerment, and delegation.
  • Ability to lead problem solving and troubleshooting of high‑level process issues.
  • Good planning and priority‑setting skills.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Bilingual in a second language is a plus.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise and monitor performance for a regular group of employees or work unit.
  • Provide input on hiring, disciplinary actions, work objectives, and effectiveness.
  • Realign work as needed and provide leadership and guidance to employees in the Maintenance Department.
Work Conditions and Physical Effort
  • Exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, darkness, noise, and chemical or electrical hazards.
  • Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness, and humidity.
  • Daily activity includes sitting at a desk, walking around office and plant, carrying packages up to 50 pounds, small‑hand dexterity, and kneeling.
Salary Range and Benefits
  • Salary range: $71,880.00 – $ (actual compensation may vary).
