Job Description
The Tool and Die machinist repairs and maintains small dies, fixtures, and all other tooling in conformance with customer and/or company specifications per control plans. The machinist analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools. The machinist maintains a safe working environment by ensuring compliance with procedures and safety regulations, and reports to the Maintenance Manager.
Qualifications- Minimum 2 years of experience as a machinist working with small stamping dies, machining tools, and equipment components.
- Extensive experience with metal working tools including drills, milling machines, grinders, and lathes.
- Experience in welding is a plus.
- Preferred metallurgic knowledge and understanding of metal properties.
- Knowledge of and experience with Lock‑Out, Tag‑Out procedures.
- Able to strictly adhere to safety policies and procedures and be committed to customer quality.
- Must be available for regular standby assignments; work scheduled off‑hours and emergency overtime as required.
- Able to work with little supervision.
- Solid knowledge of trigonometry and shop math.
- Proficient in Word and Excel.
- Must be willing to attend training sessions as needed, including out of state locations.
- Possess strong work ethic and knowledge of intermediate troubleshooting.
- Able to read printed materials, blueprints, schematics, and computer graphics.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team, including the ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ability to show attention to detail in a very fast paced environment.
