Family Nurse Practitioner – PRN (part‑time, flexible). Join the College of Nursing at Texas A&M University Health Science Center to provide direct care in managed clinics across various locations. This role offers an "as‑needed" capacity with a schedule of 8 a.m.–5 p.m., and you will serve primarily in Bryan or Crockett, Texas.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive examinations; diagnose acute, chronic, and urgent primary‑care conditions; formulate therapeutic plans; order & interpret diagnostic tests; manage medications; educate patients and families.
- Coordinate patient care to ensure safe, effective, efficient, and timely care; liaise between clinical staff and consult services; consult with physicians and other healthcare team members.
- Order and evaluate effectiveness of therapeutic modalities; perform primary‑care procedures; provide health‑maintenance services, including immunizations and screenings.
- Advise patients and significant others on medications, diseases, procedures, and preventive healthcare; assess and stabilize emergent conditions; determine patient disposition.
- Serve as a clinical resource through consultation, education, literature review, and participation in seminars and simulations; document clinical encounters; perform follow‑up care.
- Apply, model, and teach evidence‑based treatment and care; precept nursing students; promote cost savings and optimal patient experience; participate in continuous process improvement, data reporting, and scholarly projects.
- Serve on committees; provide presentations; participate in staff development.
- Master of Science in Nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- One year of directly related experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- At least five years of clinical nursing experience.
- Active RN and APRN, Family Nurse Practitioner licenses in Texas with prescriptive authority; national board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner.
- American Heart Association – Basic Life Support certificate.
- Proficiency with computer systems, including electronic health record (EHR) and web‑based applications; basic Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques; familiarity with EHR and EMR systems.
- Strong verbal and written communication; analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
- Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
- Active State of Texas RN license.
- Active State of Texas APRN license as Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Prescriptive authority in Texas.
- National board certification as Family Nurse Practitioner.
- Salary commensurate with education and experience.
- Part‑time schedule with flex hours 8 a.m.–5 p.m.; days vary with clinic need.
- Grant‑funded position – future employment may be contingent on continued funding.
