American Traveler is seeking an experienced OR RN with cardiovascular and robotics experience for a 13-week travel contract at a Level III Trauma acute care hospital in Texas.
Requirements- Active TX RN license or Compact (NLC) license required; must be active at time of consideration — pending licenses not accepted
- Current certifications required: BLS (AHA) and ACLS (AHA); pending certifications not accepted
- Minimum of 4 years of OR experience required; 5+ years strongly preferred
- Cardiovascular OR experience required, including the ability to circulate CABGs
- Robotics experience required; experience with both Mako (Ortho) and DaVinci (General, Urology, and CV) robots is highly desirable
- Craniotomy experience required due to frequency of after-hours neuro call cases
- Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire
- A copy of a valid driver's license is required for consideration
- Acute care hospital OR setting with Level III Trauma designation
- Candidates must be able to circulate in all surgical specialties, including CV, Neuro, Ortho, General, Eyes, Endo, and Cysto
- CV cases include CABGs, TCARs, and Carotids; scrubbing experience is a plus but not required
- Neuro cases include Craniotomies (frequent after-hours call), TLIFs, Laminectomies, and Discectomies
- Ortho cases include trauma, Total Shoulders, Total Knees, Total Hips, and ORIFs
- General cases include Lap Choles, Colectomies, Hernias, Open Belly, and trauma using the DaVinci robot
- Additional cases include Vitrectomies (Eyes), ERCPs, Colonoscopies, and EGDs (Endo), and Cystoscopies, Stent Placements, and TURPs (Cysto)
- Unit utilizes both the Mako robot (Ortho) and the DaVinci robot (General, Urology, and CV)
- Charting via MEDITECH
- Schedule:
Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM–3:00 PM (8-hour shifts) - On-call required one evening per week (3:00 PM–7:00 AM) and two Saturdays or Sundays per month (7:00 AM–7:00 AM)
- Standard 30-minute response time required for on-call
- Floating may be required between two campuses approximately 16 minutes apart
- Candidates must not have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any Common Spirit, CHI, or Dignity-affiliated facility within the past year; candidates previously employed PRN through outside staffing firms will be considered
- May be asked to precept staff as needed by the unit
- Reliability is critical — call-outs are strongly discouraged and may result in termination
- Orientation is 12 hours
- Profiles are reviewed directly by the unit manager
