• Master of Science degree in nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One year directly related experience serving as a family nurse practitioner.

Requires an active license as a Registered Nurse and as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse, Family Nurse Practitioner, in the state of Texas with prescriptive authority and national board certification as a family nurse practitioner.

A well-qualified candidate will also possess At least five years of clinical nursing experience is required.

• American Heart Association - Basic Life Support Certificate.
• Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and electronic health records, some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.
• Experience in health professions education is preferred.
• Familiarity with electronic health records.
• Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
• Knowledge of standard nursing procedures and techniques.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work with sensitive information and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to use and manage an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.

FNP Practice and Clinical Preceptor Performs history, psychosocial, and physical examinations, diagnosis of acute, chronic, and urgent/episodic primary care conditions, formulates therapeutic plans of care, ordering and interpreting laboratory and diagnostic imaging, electrocardiogram exams, medication management and provides education to patients and their families. Coordinates the care of patients to provide safe, effective, efficient, and timely patient-centered care. Liaises between clinical staff and consult services.

Consults with physicians and other members of the healthcare team regarding the care of patients as appropriate. Order and evaluate effectiveness of therapeutic modalities such as medications, treatments, diagnostic tests, etc. Performs primary care procedures. Provide primary health care maintenance of the population served, including immunizations and recommended health screenings. Counsel and instruct patients and significant others as appropriate on medications, disease, procedures, and preventive healthcare.
